Axel's Story

Meet Axel!

Axel is a 2-year-old neutered German Shepherd who came to us as a stray and was never reclaimed. Shelter life has been challenging for him, and he can be very fearful in the kennel environment. When nervous, Axel may put his ears back and growl to communicate his discomfort.

Once outside, Axel's true potential begins to show. He is a high-energy boy who pulls hard on leash and will benefit from continued work on leash manners. He is very treat-motivated (sometimes a little too enthusiastic!) and already knows how to sit. Axel has made significant progress since his last behavior evaluation, showing that he's capable of learning and growing with the right guidance.

Axel would thrive in an active home committed to consistent basic obedience training and confidence-building. Because he can be timid with certain types of handling, a home with older children is recommended. He has shown some barrier reactivity toward other dogs through the kennel, so a dog meet-and-greet is highly encouraged to ensure a good match.

With patience, structure, and an active lifestyle, Axel has the potential to become a loyal and rewarding companion. If you're ready to help a young shepherd build confidence and skills, Axel may be the one for you.
