Axel's Story

No formal training with us. . He knows sit, paw, has been learning lay down.
He is potty trained
He can be a little mouthy when he’s energetic in the mornings (will be rolling around and gently gnawing on things near him, like arms).

overall he is super super sweet.

The huge issue is that he has severe separation anxiety and is also an escape artist. When he is left alone he can go ham on doorknobs, doors, gates, both wood and metal trying to get out.

He is obsessed with being in cars so we have had to set up ways to remove the car trigger for him, but he can be extremely stubborn to come back inside after taking him out to pee because he wants to go into the car.

His perfect dog house would be an old car lol.

When driving in the car, he never gets sick, can withstand long drives, but barks the ENTIRE time. We have invested in ear plugs for the car.

He is extremely visually reactive (not super reactive to sounds) when he sees other dogs, outdoor workers, golf carts, etc. Barking, running in circles, going crazy, it’s impossible to chill him out.

He is SOOOO friendly with humans, he never barks at a human at the door or coming to say hi. I think he is good with dogs once past the reactivity of seeing them far away. We have a dog Joey (a German pitty mix) and he loves her. When they had some fights in the first few months together, Joey was the instigator, always (and it was always surrounding food). Axel is sweet.

Let's Rescue Dogs's Adoption Policy
The first step in the process is to apply for the dog you are interested in on our website, www.letsrescuedogs.net If approved, you will be contacted via email. You will be required to submit a virtual home check by recording a clear video of where your new pet will eat, sleep, play and your backyard if applicable. If your home check approved, our adoption coordinator will schedule a phone interview to go over any questions and/or concerns you may have and to schedule a day and time for a meet and greet. If the meet and greet goes well you may take the dog home for a 7 day adoption trial. If you feel the dog is still a great fit after the trial, the adoption is finalized by signing the adoption contract and paying the adoption fee which includes the dogs spay/neuter, microchip, and core vaccines.
