Avery - Puppy - Coming Mid January's Story

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas or North Central Texas area.

NAME: Avery
GENDER: Female (Will be Spayed)
AGE: About 16 Weeks (as of Early December)
WEIGHT: About 4.8 Pounds (Still Growing)
DOGS/CATS: Gets along with other small and medium dogs, Unknown with cats
CHILDREN: Loves Everyone, Is Great with Children
AVAILABILITY: Mid-January

Meet Avery, a fun loving puppy! She has an outgoing personality that fits in with everyone. She is looking for an active, forever home to grow up in.

In Mid-November, we received a plea for help. There were 5 Chihuahua puppies who were dumped in a Dallas neighborhood. No Mom was with them. The Good Samaritans who found them kept them safe while they looked for owners. When no owners stepped forward, we agreed to bring them into our CRT foster program. Thank you to our sweet fosters who agreed to help foster puppies with the holidays coming! You have saved their lives. Avery is one of these 5 puppies who was saved this day. She is growing up in a foster home with one of her sisters, Emmie, who literally looks like her twin!

Avery gets along with the other small and medium sized dogs in her foster home. Avery enjoys playing with her foster siblings and will initiate play. She loves to run and tumble and do zoomies. Avery loves going outside to play and explore. Her foster family has a large fenced in yard and she bolts around the yard with pure joy. You cannot help but smile when you see how much she loves to have fun. Avery also loves toys. Her favorites are the small plush squeaky toys.

Avery has a great personality. She is the more outgoing of the sisters and has a fear of missing out! She wants to be involved in everything all the time! She enjoys meeting new people and wants to get love and attention. She is a huge cuddler so if you love snuggling, she wants to volunteer for the job. Avery is at that perfect stage where the world is exciting and everyone is her friend! Avery loves to follow you around the house to see what you are working on. Whatever it is, she wants to be a part of it. Note that she is very active and loves to be right by your feet, so could be a tripping hazard! Avery adores her family and we think you will adore her!

Avery is super smart, is adventurous, has no fear and is very confident. She also has great manners. Avery is a puppy and learning every day. She has learned how to go outside to potty. She also uses potty pads as a backup. At night she sleeps in a dog bed inside a closed off area with her sister Emmie. Due to her vaccination status, we have not begun to leash train her. Once we complete her vaccinations, we will put a harness on her and begin to teach her how to walk on a leash.

Our vet believes that Avery is about 16 weeks old (as of early December). She weighs about 4.8 pounds (she will grow another few pounds). Avery has a stunning dark chocolate coat with a few patches of white. We love her ears. We have done a DNA test on her (thanks to a generous supporter who donated a DNA test). The DNA results are back and are as follows: 69% Chihuahua, 7% Yorkshire Terrier, 6% Shih Tzu, 4% Pomeranian, 4% Pekingese, 3% Poodle (Toy and Miniature), 2% Dachshund, 2% Papillon and 1% Bichon Frise! And we will add that she is 100% adorable!

The perfect home for Avery would be one with high energy and a fun environment. Being a puppy, we are sure Avery would enjoy another small young dog to grow up with. Applications will not be considered where she will be an only dog. If you do not have another dog, please consider Emmie (her sibling that she is growing up with – they are really bonding and it would be a dream to have them adopted together). Avery needs a family who can check on her every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works 10-12 hour days). Note that Avery does react (bark) to noises, so we do not think she would do well in an apartment. She can also be a door darter and she is fast, so we recommend a secure area around your front door. Avery is growing up with a human sister that adores her. So we know she does well with older, mature children (8 and older). Avery would be a great family dog.

This puppy is loving and adorable. Some family is going to hit the jackpot with her.

Avery is being fostered in the Dallas-Fort Worth (Texas) area. Our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ application submits correctly, the system will send you a copy. If you do not receive a copy into your email que, it did not submit. Feel free to email us at DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you need help with the application.

Avery will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. Vet work is scheduled to be completed in Mid-January, and she will then be ready for adoption. We are accepting applications now.

This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $350.00 adoption donation required.

As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.

After filling out an adoption application (found at http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/), please email DFWCoordinator@chihuahua-rescue.com if you are interested in this dog. Please be sure to read about our adoption process and then fill out an adoption application before emailing the contact person.
