Aurora's Story

Meet Aurora: The Perfect Mix of Pittie Charm & Husky Energy!

Aurora is a stunning 4-year-old Husky mix and Pit Bull Terrier who is officially ready to find her forever family! This beautiful, spayed female brings you the joyful, athletic spirit of a Husky combined with the sweet, velcro-dog affection of a Pit Bull.

Details

* Name: Aurora (she also answers to Winter/Wynter)

* Age: 4 years old

* Gender: Female (Spayed)

Medical: No known medical issues and appears to be in perfect health. She is spayed.

* Breed: Husky mix/Pit Bull Mix

* Compatibility: Great with kids; Needs to be the only dog OR requires a very slow introduction

* Requirement: Must have a secure yard with at least a 6ft fence

Personality & Temperament

Aurora is a beautiful balance of active fun and gentle sweetness. She is incredibly gentle, sweet, and playful. Her foster family raves about how affectionate she is with humans. She is also fantastic with children as young as 2 years old, making her an ideal match for a family looking to add a four-legged dog best friend to the pack. She loved to run and do zoomies to show her athleticism. She does occasionally do the pittie mouthing but never with aggression.

Dog Compatibility & Placement

Aurora currently lives with a 2-year-old male Husky foster brother (they did not know each other before meeting at their foster home) and the two of them are the best of friends! They spend their days playing, wrestling, and keeping each other entertained. Because she thrives so beautifully with him, we know she has great potential to share her home with another pup.

However, to ensure she feels safe and successful, Aurora needs to be either the only dog in the household or requires a very slow, gradual introduction to a new dog. She has shown to be reactive to female dogs but since she does so beautifully with her foster brother, may be a good fit with male dogs. With the right match and a patient transition, she can be an amazing canine companion.

Aurora will help protect your home by letter you know if there are any small critters in your yard or home due to her high prey drive. So it's best that she not be in a home with cats or other small animals.

House & Crate Training (What to Expect)

Aurora is a sensitive girl who thrives on routine, and she needs a family who will give her a little grace as she adjusts to a new environment.

* House Training: She does well once she learns a routine, but the transition to a new home can be overwhelming. She is house trained; however, expect a couple of minor potty accidents if crates will be used and as she figures out her new schedule and layout.

* Crate Training: Aurora experiences initial anxiety when first placed in her crate. Recommend exercising her and doing pee and poo potty breaks before crating her. Understand that out of nerves, she may still have a pee accident within the first 30 minutes of being crated. However, once that initial wave of anxiety passes, she calms down completely, settles beautifully, and rests quietly. A patient family willing to use positive reinforcement and high-value treats will help her build ultimate crate confidence!

Leash Manners & Exercise

Aurora loves going on adventures and is generally great on a walk. She enjoys exploring the neighborhood and taking in all the sights. The only exception? She gets very excited when she spots another dog! She will occasionally pull on the leash out of pure eagerness to say hello, so she will just need a handler who can keep her focused with a few treats.

Her Ideal Home Setup

Because she has that classic Husky athleticism and loves to run, Aurora needs a yard where she can stretch her legs safely. She is a skilled jumper, so a home with a secure fence of at least 6 feet is required. She will thrive with an active family who can give her the daily exercise she craves and all the couch cuddles she deserves afterward.

Ready to Meet Aurora?

Aurora is fully vetted, spayed, and waiting patiently in her foster home. Since she is cared for in a private volunteer home, meet and greets are scheduled for approved applicants!

To take the next step and set up a time to meet her, please reach out to Harnessed to Hope Northern Breed Rescue and visit their Adoption Page to fill out and submit an online application.

Adoption in Maryland only.
