Aurora's Story

Meet Aurora!

Aurora is a 2-year-old 67 lb Shepherd rescued from the Downey Shelter.

This girl is incredibly kind and gentle, especially during playtime. She’s mindful, affectionate, and loves being around her people. Aurora is friendly with everyone she meets and while she can get a little jumpy when she’s excited, she’s already made great progress and continues to improve every day.

She’s a smart, eager learner who has picked up so much in a short time. In just a couple of weeks, Aurora has learned commands like sit, stand, down, and wait, and she’s currently working on “no” and “with me.” She’s even learned to patiently wait at the door until she’s invited out and will hop into the tub after walks to get her paws cleaned.

Aurora has also made huge strides with her independence. She used to try to escape and struggled with separation anxiety, but now she’s much more relaxed and comfortable staying home while her person is away.

On walks, Aurora is still learning how to navigate the world around her. She can get excited when she sees other dogs and will need continued training and structure, but she has shown that she can be friendly with proper introductions. She’s also very interested in chasing cats and squirrels, so a home without small animals would be best.

She loves her treats (especially cucumbers and carrots!), has a healthy appetite, and is ready to keep learning with a patient, committed home.
