August's Story

August is one of 5 puppies that were discarded like side-of-the-road garbage, left where cars pass by constantly. Thankfully, they were found and brought to safety before being hit by vehicles.

The first few days were rough. There was lots of diarrhea and some vomiting as their little bodies tried to recover from whatever they had been through. Clementine had a particularly scary moment and had to go back to the vet for X-rays because she kept vomiting. Turns out she had a serious case of “garbage belly.” After some fluids and additional medications, she started feeling much better.

The good news is all of them are doing great now! They are 6 weeks old, happily settled into their foster homes, learning the ropes of house life, getting lots of love, and finally being cared for the way they always deserved.

We are opening applications now, but they won’t be ready to go home for about two weeks (3/20). We have no history on their parents, so they are likely a mix of about 10 different breeds… honestly at this point we may just have to start creating our own “Side of the Road Special” breed.

Adoption fee: $500 (includes vaccines to date, microchip, and spay/neuter)
Apply at www.lakesideanimalrescue.com
