Atticus's Story

hi Atticus,

this good boy is an approx. 4 year old Belgian Shepherd. He was brought to the local animal shelter after being on the run for 3 weeks in the Philadelphia area. Sadly, his owners were unable to be located, so he came to us. He is 56 lbs.

We do not know about his history, but we do know that he is a certified good boy, looking for a second chance. Atticus came to us skittish and nervous, so our volunteer trainer has been working with him. Despite being timid, he has allowed us handling without an issue. He is looking for a patient and loving Malinois experienced home that will give him the space and time needed to build up his confidence. If you allow him the space, he builds up his trust quickly. He will come up to our volunteers handling him for pets and happily engage in training sessions, though our trainer is still taking it slow. He LOVES beef flavor chews and is very motivated, making training easier. He walks well on the leash and follows his handler well. He will now also more readily make eye contact with his volunteers and anticipate the next cues.

Overall, he is a sweet, sensitive soul that will be a wonderful and loyal friend to the right person.

Atticus will come neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, 4dx tested. He did test positive for heartworm and is currently in treatment. He can be adopted while he is being treated and the rescue will remain responsible for the costs of the treatment at our vet in Media, PA.

He would need to meet any resident dogs.

If you are serious about adoption, please fill out the adoption application on our website www.phoenixanimalrescue.com His adoption fee is $475.

Phoenix Animal Rescue
Chester Springs, PA
Kennel License #5152
