Atreyu's Story
My name is Atreyu but you may also hear me referred to as Butters. Not sure whether it was mom or dad who gave me the sillier name but to be honest, I'm just happy to be loved!

I found myself wandering around on my own before I made my way up to the porch of a kind local family who called the police. The kennel staff let out a sigh of relief when they scanned me for a microchip and heard that unmistakable beep. All of my information was registered including my pawrents' address and phone number, my original name and my birthday! For those of you who are wondering, I will be turning one on October 23rd :) Despite the staff's repeated attempts to reunite us, my former family unfortunately pretended they didn't know me and refused to return the shelter's phone calls. How could anyone do such a thing to an innocent puppy?

I was admittedly a bit nervous upon intake with all of the other dogs shouting at me. Once I settled in I realized that shelter life is not quite as scary as I thought it would be. My human friends were pleasantly surprised to discover that I am already housetrained and also keep my plush beds and blankies neat and tidy. Not too shabby for a young lad! My leash manners will definitely need some work as I tend to get a bit anxious on my walks. I am happy to report that I have been making some progress with positive reassurance and tasty treats. Due to my high energy yet lack of confidence in new settings the staff feels I am best suited for a home with teens and adults. If you have a patient and confident large breed pup I may be interested in getting to know them and learning "how to dog" under their leadership. I really am a pawesome adoption candidate and would love to be the newest additional to your family. Please don't let me grow up in a shelter - ask about adopting me!
