Atlas's Story

This handsome boy is ready to find a family who will help him grow into the amazing dog we know he can be!

Atlas is a 6-month-old Heelsky, a Heeler/Husky mix, and let us tell you... this boy is SMART! He has a bright mind, a playful personality, and plenty of puppy energy to keep life interesting.

Atlas is still learning about the world around him and has been working hard to overcome some of his fears. We are so proud of the progress he’s making! With time, patience, and the right people by his side, he continues to build confidence and show us more of who he really is.

Being part Heeler, Atlas is already showing some of those classic herding-dog tendencies. He’s going to need a family who understands that smart, energetic working breeds need more than just a backyard. He’ll benefit from dedicated training, consistency, mental stimulation, and plenty of positive experiences to help him become the best version of himself.

But beneath that clever mind and busy puppy energy is a boy who appreciates loving one-on-one time with his people. Give him a chance to feel safe, build trust, and learn at his own pace, and you’ll be helping him develop a bond that will be so worth the effort.

Atlas was recently neutered and is still waiting on a couple of vaccines, but he doesn’t have to wait to start meeting potential adopters!

We’re looking for a family willing to invest in him, celebrate his progress, and give him the time and patience he deserves. He’s still a puppy with so much to learn, and his future is full of possibilities!

Think you could be the person Atlas needs?

Cheboygan County Humane Society's Adoption Policy
We do not hold available/adoptable animals as we are a first come first serve facility. However, we do place animals in homes that are best fitting for that animal. If you rent, please supply your landlord's information as we cannot adopt until we speak to them directly or have something in writing approving the animal(s) allowed. If you are interested in us matching you with a forever pet, please fill out an adoption questionnaire below for us to know a little bit more about you! Please keep in mind we do require vet checks and meet and greets with other dogs in the home. It normally takes 30 + minutes for the adoption process.
