Athena- Project Homebound's Story
Why Choose Me?
Update: I'm glad I had time with Athena today. She's a really good girl. She was happy to sit and lie down for treats, but her favorite thing to do was just hanging out with a friend. She's a sweet, gentle dog. A note on her kennel states Athena can jump a fence, and the first time I met her, she thought about doing that when she saw another dog, but now that she's settled in, she calmly meets canine neighbors at the fence and then goes about her business. She's even able to be left on her own in an interaction pen during morning cleaning. She probably still needs to be an indoor dog who's supervised when she's outdoors because she CAN jump a fence, but it's nice that she's not choosing to do that. Athena minds well, likes to please, and is a super sweet companion. I hope she finds a loving family soon.

Athena is a sweet, medium-sized girl. There's a note that she can jump fences, so we spent our first minutes just being together in the shade. She likes pets and treats, and once she was comfortable with me, I took the leash off. She was great about staying with me until she saw another dog walking in the field. Then she ran to the fence ready to go over. She wasn't acting aggressively, but it showed me that Athena needs to be an indoor dog who's supervised when she's outdoors. She's easy on a leash and after daily walks, would probably like hanging out inside with her humans.

You can read more about this dog and check out additional photos here: https://www.accgov.com/9482/Dogs

The adoption fees, shelter schedule, a description of the rescue and adoption process, and a list of included vetting can be found at https://athenspets.net/adoption-rescue-process.

This dog is available for adoption through Athens-Clarke County Animal Services, located at 125 Buddy Christian Way, Athens, GA.
