Athena's Story

Athena has a pretty unbelievable story. She showed up on someone’s doorstep in Taos shivering in the cold. A microchip scan revealed her owner was in Albuquerque, but when they were contacted, it turns out she was lost over eight years ago. Unfortunately, the previous owners living situation has changed and they are unable to take her back.
She is incredibly loving and gentle. She gets along with dogs of all sizes and generally ignores the cats. She loves getting hugs from children and giving them kisses in exchange.
As you can see from the photos, she has a pot belly due to mild congestive heart failure. The vet believes she has the ability to live a few more happy healthy years despite this condition.
