Hi there… I’m Athena, an 8-year-old lady with a gentle heart who’s looking for a calm, understanding home of my own.<br/><br/>I’m a lovely leash walker — I stroll nicely without pulling and I’m not bothered by cars, bikes, people, or other dogs. I’m pretty relaxed out and about and enjoy taking in the world at my own pace.<br/><br/>I’ll be honest though: I can get scared or overwhelmed in certain situations, especially things like baths or medical handling. Because of that, I’ll need a patient human who understands that trust takes time. Once I feel safe, I bond deeply with my people and become a very loyal companion.<br/><br/>I’d do best in a quiet home with experienced dog guardians and older teens (17+) who understand dog body language and respect boundaries. I also guard my food and personal space a bit, so structure and positive training will help me feel secure.<br/><br/>I’m part of the Special Paws Program, which just means I need a little extra TLC — some skin care and a special diet to keep this classy lady feeling her best.<br/><br/>If you’re the kind of person who believes the best friendships are built on patience and trust, I might just be your girl.<br/><br/>My special paws adoption fee is $100 and includes my spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, dewormer and a microchip. If you want to learn more about me, please come visit the GTHS and speak with one of the amazing Adoption Counsellors! The GTHS is open for adoptions from 12pm-4:00pm, every single day of the week and they would be thrilled to introduce you to me!
