Athena's Story

Athena was recently surrendered to our Shelter and she's in search of her forever family. She is a smart, affectionate girl who embodies the brave and protective nature of her breed.
Like most livestock guardians, Athena is cautious when meeting new people. She does warm up with time and reassurance.
Her previous family said she got along well with their resident cat and had positive interactions with other dogs, however, we would expect her to be protective when meeting new furry friends. Supervised interactions would be required.
She previously lived in a home with a toddler, but due to her size and strength, she would be best suited to a home without small children.

Athena would love a large fenced yard to romp in; she loves the snow, playing fetch and belly rubs! If you are seeking a strong, confident dog, Athena is the gal for you!

Athena is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated. She weighs 52kg.

Caucasian Shepherd Dogs were bred to care for flocks and defend the home against wild predators. Caucasian Shepherd Dogs are intelligent, they are fairly low-energy dogs and with proper training and socialization, can make strong watchdogs or family companions, even therapy dogs. They need regular grooming to keep the coat healthy and clean.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, or have more questions, please call us at 905-584-2272 x4698.
