Meet Athena!<br/><br/>Athena is a 3.5 year old 45 pound loving, affectionate girl who absolutely adores being close to her people. She loves sitting on your lap, snuggling, and giving kisses to everyone she meets, including the vet. She does wonderfully with men, women, and children and is gentle when taking treats and food.<br/><br/>Athena is spayed and up to date on all vaccinations and preventions. She eats both kibble and people food, and she free-feeds well. Her kibble is left out and she eats when she’s hungry. If her food or water bowl is empty, she sometimes will bring it to you to let you know.<br/><br/>At night, Athena is an excellent sleeper. Her last potty break is usually between 8 and 9 pm, and she sleeps through the night until about 8 am. She is happy sleeping in her dog bed, on the couch, or cuddled up in bed with you.<br/><br/>She is not much of a barker, but she is a husky so the occasional song can be expected especially when you leave !! Athena walks well on leash with correction, and has a very sweet demeanor. She may cry in the car, but she rides calmly and comfortably when crated.<br/>Athena loves people deeply and bonds closely with them. <br/><br/>Unfortunately, despite being generally good with other dogs, she and the resident dog in her current home are unable to coexist. They both want to be top dog and have started fighting … Because of this, Athena is looking for a new forever home where she can truly thrive. <br/><br/>Athena is a devoted, affectionate companion who will make someone incredibly lucky to have her.<br/><br/>Owning a dog is not just a privilege; it’s a responsibility. They depend on us for, at minimum, food and shelter, and deserve much more. When you take a dog into your life, you need to understand the commitment that dog ownership entails. So please before you apply be sure you are not just ready for the joy but are prepared for the responsibility. <br/><br/>Before applying to adopt, we encourage you to research the financial and time commitments involved in raising a dog. It’s important to have discussions as a family, especially if this is your first dog. We recommend looking into training options as well.<br/><br/>We will begin processing applications this week, and the review process may take anywhere from 1 to 15 days.
