Aster's Story

Hi! My name is Aster & I'm a 2-3 year old female beagle. I'm beautiful as you can see! I am very high energy! I'm playful, & I like to play fetch & ball! And I love to go for walks & runs! I would be a great running partner! I also love to cuddle! I lived in a home with other dogs & young children. I was great with everyone. I'm housetrained. I will go to the door & wait for someone to let me out. I'm used to going outside every few hours. I'm so smart, I bet my new person could teach me to ring a bell when I needed to go outside! I prefer to sleep in bed with my person. I'm crate trained, but when I was first crated, I didn't like it. So I have a small scar on my snout from me rubbing the wire on the crate. Like I said, I'm pretty smart & so I figured out how to open the latch on the crate door. So the door on the crate needs to be securely shut. Also, that means if I go to a home with door handles rather than door knobs, then the door would need to be dead bolted shut - otherwise, I'll probably jump on the handle with my paws & open the door. I need a new home because I kept escaping from my prior owner's yard. I jumped a 3 foot fence from an elevated landing - so I might be OK in a yard with a standard 4 foot fence, as long as I can't get on something elevated to jump the fence. I'm very smart & so a fenced yard would need to be beagle proofed (like making sure I can't squeeze through a part of the fence or under it). Also, I need a home where I can't dash out the door. I weigh about 26 lbs., but I'm petite! I was in a home with cats for a short while & I was pretty fixated & excited by them. And so a home without cats would be best. I really like to bark! I've got a great beagle howl! I'm already spayed & up-to-date on vaccines! Now I just need my forever home to fine me! Are you it?! Kennel License #4068

Thank you for your interest in adopting a rescue dog & Nittany Beagle Rescue! We are a foster-home based rescue. We hold showings on the 1st & 3rd Saturday of the month at Lyons Kennels in Bellefonte, PA from 11am - 1pm. You can meet some of our dogs then! Please email or send a PM on our FB page if you want to know if a particular dog will be at the showing. If you are interested in a particular dog, or a type of dog, please submit an application to foster or adopt (it's the same application form). Once you have an approved application for a dog, we will connect you with the dog's foster parent. Typically the potential adopter & foster talk on the telephone first. Then if the dog seems like a good fit, we arrange a personal meet & greet.
