Hi there, this is Aspen. <br/><br/>Please read this post in its entirety.<br/>New to the rescue, Aspen. <br/><br/>Hi, my name is Aspen and I am 6 years old, very healthy, spayed, and weigh 12 pounds. My family has taken extremely good care of me. I am up-to-date on all my vaccines, I am spayed and I am getting ready to have a dental cleaning. The vet says my teeth look great but it’s something my family does for me. I have been loved, cherished, and adored by my family since I was born and they are now traveling too much for work and need to find me a new home with people who will Love Me to the Moon because I am, above all, a Lovebug <br/><br/>I am currently located in the greater Los Angeles area and I am looking to stay in the area. .<br/><br/>I need lots of love and affection. I love to sit on your lap with a blanket and relax and sleep, and I love to be with my people. I am a great desk companion and love to relax by your side while you work. I am also very playful and love to play with my collection of donuts and other toys. I am house-trained and have a doggy door to my yard but our pool is protected by a fence. <br/><br/>A few of my quirks: I always bark when people come to my garden, I am very protective that way. I have some anxiety and I do not like to be alone. When I’m anxious, I lick the floor to self-soothe. Sometimes I do this right before a meal. I also do not like to go on walks, but I absolutely love to run around in my garden and hang out in the shade on the daybed outdoors with my family. Most of all, I need a family where people are home much of the day, I need to be with people who work from home or who are retired.<br/><br/>I am a sweet, sensitive little soul and at the same time I also have a big personality: I am Bold, Sassy, and absolutely Hilarious. For example, I always follow my mom into the laundry room and right when I walk in, I twirl around in circles and bark for joy and do a little happy dance—every single time! So one of my nicknames is the Laundry Ambassador. Any time my bright orange ball is near me, I stand by it and stare at my mom until she kicks it for me several times and I love to chase that ball! Then I keep staring at her and my little bottom lip quivers until she kicks the ball again and again. It’s one of my favorite games and one of my other nicknames is “the Boss of Me” and “the Boss of Us” since I can get people to do what I want just by staring at them!<br/><br/> I am very shy around other dogs, but I know that I would love to have that Bond if there was a dog that I could live with that was really kind and mellow. I had a sister named Willow, who was also a dachshund, who lived to be age 18 and we were the best of friends.
