Aspen's Story

About Aspen
Status: Available
Breed: Border Collie
Gender: Neutered Male
DOB: 6/15/2021
LOCATION: Front Royal, VA
WEIGHT: 40lba
COAT: Rough Coat
COLOR: Black and White
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Very Active Companion/Working Dog

Meet Aspen!

Aspen is a handsome, black and white Border Collie with brown eyes and upright ears. Aspen is a very active dog and can become very excited on walks in the neighborhood. Aspen is a classic Border Collie with high energy and needs a job. When outside, Aspen would rather run around and search for small creatures than play with a ball. Inside, he likes to be with humans and will sit on the couch with you, or just lie on the floor and show you his belly. He loves belly rubs and he is very chill in the house and quietly lays on the floor while I work in my home office. He has not chewed up any furniture or electrical cords and can be trusted to be left alone for short periods of time. He is house and crate trained and eats his meals in his crate. In his previous home the family did not have enough time for him, so he was bored and would take walks out on his own.

Aspen is up to date on all his vaccinations and receives monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention. He loves people but hasn’t learned to keep four feet on the floor when meeting people so small kids probably won’t work. We have no information on how he is with cats but he does stare down my guinea pigs and is very interested in wild bunnies, so he should be kept away from small pets. He is not a dog who protects any toys or bones and is not food aggressive. He is good with other dogs but he does like to be the one in charge of the play. He leaps easily and gracefully over standard child gates (we use them only on stairs). Aspen knows basic obedience commands but has selective hearing. He is not very treat-motivated, but he really likes positive reinforcement. He would do best to live on a farm or a property with land so he has space to run freely. He is very loyal to his people!

If you are the perfect forever home for Aspen, please fill out an application and contact his foster parents at gnjforce@gmail.com. BRBCR’s approval process includes phone interviews, reference checks, and a home visit prior to meeting a foster dog. Approved applicants must meet at the foster dog’s location. Every adoption begins with a 2-week trial period.

Aspen’s adoption fee is $350.

Thank you for considering a rescue dog!

Contact the foster parent of the dog that you are interested in to request an adoption application. 2. Fill out an adoption application on our website OR email a completed adoption application to brbcrdogs@gmail.com. 3. A BRBCR volunteer will conduct a phone interview with the applicant and the applicant's veterinarian and personal references. 4. A BRBCR volunteer will conduct a home visit with the applicant. Upon approval, the foster parent will set up a Meet and Greet for the applicant.
