He arrived at the shelter in early August and quickly settled into a foster home, where he’s slowly but steadily learning to trust.<br/><br/>Shy by nature, Aspen prefers calm environments and one-on-one time with his foster. Sudden noises, fast movements, or men can make him nervous, but with patience and consistency he’s making wonderful progress. He recently played with the resident dog for the first time — a big step in building his confidence.<br/><br/>What Aspen is learning:<br/>-Fully house trained and crate trained<br/>-Sleeps quietly through the night<br/>-Walks politely on leash without pulling<br/>-Eats well and shows no guarding over food, toys, or people<br/>-Gentle with handling (paws, ears, tail, collar)-Calm and affectionate once he feels safe<br/><br/>Aspen isn’t food motivated, so training has been slow, but he does listen when told “no” and stops what he’s doing. He doesn’t nip, jump, or mouth, and he’s happiest just being close to his trusted person.<br/><br/>Aspen would thrive in a quiet home with someone patient who can help him continue to build confidence. He may do well as an only dog or with another calm, friendly companion.
