Ashley's Story

Please go to www.yvpr.org/adoptions to complete an adoption application.
YVPR does not respond to applications/inquiries originating from Petfinder. Questions about our adoption process can generally be answered by reviewing the Adoption FAQ's.

This little girl is Ashley, she is 7-8 years old, she is grey and white with a medium scruffy coat and weighs 13.13 pounds. We believe she is a Chihuahua/Schnauzer mix Ashley is quite the little charmer. She has settled in nicely with the other dogs at her foster home. She loves her person and wants to be with them. She gets very excited when we go outside and she can screech due to her excitement. Her foster mom feels she would do great with a playmate. “When we play with her, she gets very excited and likes to use her teeth to play and we are working on this. As far as children goes, we think it best for older, respectful children. She does love to play with toys also but again can get mouthy. She is crate trained but after the first couple of days I have not had to use it. She is potty trained and uses the doggy door. She has had no accidents and is respectful in the home. When it’s bedtime, she will sleep on the couch she will not sleep with you. Ashley will need time to adjust she has been through so much in a small amount of time. She does take her treats very nicely. She does like to bark at strange noises like the neighbors but again we are working on the barking. She may scream when you leave but I feel she will be ok after the first couple of days. She has left the cats alone, but this is no guarantee”

An application must be filled out and accepted before a meet can be set up. If accepted, you will hear from us within 72 hours. You will have the opportunity to ask questions before you meet the pet; an adoption may or may not happen at that time.
We do adopt outside the Yakima area IF you are able to come to Yakima to pick up your adopted pet. We do not have a kennel facility; all of our pets are in foster homes. Therefore, meets and adoptions take place at either our office or at a place chosen by the adoption coordinator.
If a pet has 'Adoption Pending' beside its name, an adoption is imminent. Please fill out an application anyway because adoptions don't always go through.
Your application will be kept on file for 30 days in case you find another pet you'd like to apply for.
Thanks for thinking adoption and Good Luck!
