Asher's Story
Asher is looking for their forever home!

WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS:

Meet Asher!

Asher is a lovable, people-oriented dog with a moderate energy level and a huge heart. He enjoys walks, playtime, and the occasional zoomies, but he's just as happy to settle in for long naps and quiet time. He's great at entertaining himself and doesn't need constant activity to stay content.

True to his Velcro-dog nature, Asher loves being close to his people-whether that's cuddling on the couch, tucking himself into bed beside you, or following you from room to room. He does okay in a crate when his people are home, though he much prefers being out with them. When left alone, Asher take a few minutes to calm his anxiety and may bark. His foster family is also actively working with a trainer on this, and with the help of short-acting medication during longer absences, he's been doing well. Continued training and a home that can help him feel secure will set him up for success.

Asher is fantastic with other dogs. He's friendly and social, even when other dogs are not, and he plays big with enthusiastic puppy energy-so supervision is important to make sure no one gets knocked over. In the home, he coexists beautifully with other dogs and enjoys cuddling alongside them.

He's also wonderful with people of all ages, including kids. Asher can get excited and jumpy when meeting new people, but he's gentle at heart and has done very well with toddlers when introductions are handled thoughtfully. He's curious, friendly, and eager to make friends.

Asher is very food-motivated, which makes him a joy to train. He knows commands like sit, stay, stop (especially helpful for road crossings!), and paw, and he has excellent recall-one call of "Asher, come!" and he comes running back with a wiggly butt and a big smile. He's comfortable being handled and doesn't mind paw cleaning, ear touches, belly rubs, or baths (though the shower itself isn't his favorite).

He is also exceptional with cats. From day one, Asher has been respectful and gentle with feline friends. He may try to initiate play when excited, but he listens to their cues and backs off appropriately. He has never barked at or chased them.

Asher is an affectionate, loyal love bug who thrives on connection and companionship. With patience, consistency, and lots of love, he'll make an incredibly devoted addition to the right home.

--------------

Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained.
