Asher's Story
Beyond thin, frightened and oh-so-cold, this poor soul finally decided to trust our caregiver and come to safety. At some point in his life, he has been treated well but sadly, something happened along his journey that caused all his good times to evaporate. We surmise he was dumped as he was found along the side of I-40 in Mocksville. There was no meat on his bones and we are sure he would never have survived another 24 hours in the cold without some way to stay warm. An individual who stopped said - - ‘Just don't bother with him; he's a lost cause'. But soon, this fellow managed to amble into the car and our caregiver brought him to a foster. He ate starvingly and tried to eat through the bowl so nary a crumb remained. After a thorough physical, being treated for fleas and hookworms, this handsome guy was accepted by a good-hearted foster and he made his way into our program and our hearts.

Given the name “Asher”, which means fortunate one, this fellow's tail was glued to his belly for about five days as he anxiously awaited his next meal and bowl of water. Then, the tail dropped and slowly began wagging. Today, this lovebug adores his very own kennel right by the heat, a good cuddle, a fun outdoor walk and, perhaps most of all, outdoor playtime with any and every dog at the rescue. He adores all his companions and is always happy!

Asher means ‘fortunate one' as are we for having had the opportunity to lend a helping hand to him. He comes with our standard medical package which includes his neuter, microchip, rabies, parvo-distemper and bordetella. He has been de-wormed, heartworm tested negative and is on flea and tick as well as heartworm prevention.

If you believe your environment and family are a match for Asher and you are interested in meeting him, please submit an application.
