ASHER's Story

ASHER THE CATTLE DOG WANTS TO BE YOUR ONE AND ONLY.

Looking for a devoted companion with smarts, sweetness, and a whole lot of personality? Meet Asher, a two-year-old cattle dog who's ready to be your best friend, cuddle buddy, and fetch partner all rolled into one!

Asher is a snuggle pro who loves burying his head in your arms during the day and curling up close at night. Whether you’re working, relaxing, or tossing a ball, he’s right there by your side, always eager to please.

Asher’s Journey:
This resilient boy came to the East Valley Shelter as a stray with a neck wound, likely from a past scuffle with another dog. Thankfully, he’s fully healed and now dreams of finding his *FURever* home with a loving, experienced cattle dog owner.

What Asher Needs:
Cattle dogs like Asher are incredibly loyal and thrive in homes where they can bond deeply with their people. Asher would do best as the only animal in a home without children, where he can shine as your one-and-only companion. He’s happiest with a yard where he can channel his natural instincts to “work” and explore.

Apartment life isn’t the right fit for Asher, as he’s uncomfortable around other dogs and might find frequent leash walks in a busy neighborhood stressful. A home with even a small yard will give him the space and structure he needs to succeed, as recommended by the certified professional dog trainer working with him.

Why You’ll Love Asher:
This “working dog” thrives on activity and purpose. He’s energetic and passionate about his toys, but he also finds simple joy in being by your side. Whether you’re throwing the ball for an epic game of fetch or just hanging out, Asher’s loyalty and love will make every moment brighter.

If you’re ready to give Asher the structured, loving home he needs, he’s ready to reward you with endless devotion and fun. Could you be the one to make his tail wag forever?
---
If you are interested in adopting ASHER please fill out our adoption application on www.therescuetrain.org. The Rescue Train's Adoption Policy
Ready To Adopt? Our adoption process is designed to help us set up safe and successful adoptions. The majority of the time we only do local adoptions in the City of Los Angeles. If you do not live in the LA City area please check with us before filling out an application by e-mailing us @ info@therescuetrain.org. We Take The Guess Work Out! We invest a lot of time, money and love into each animal in our care to help the adopter know what kind of pet they are adopting. Unless there is a medical reason all our animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and many of our dogs have had over $2000 of obedience training in our "Trained For Life" program. Step 1) View pets online: www.therescuetrain.org Step 2) Submit Application for the Pet of Your Choice Our adoption application is not meant to be an invasion of privacy but a tool to help us find out if one of our dogs or cats would fit happily into your home and lifestyle. We spend a lot of time and funds to get to know our pets and your application helps set both you and them up for a successful adoption. Step 3) Meet the Pet By appointment only. If your application is approved, you will be contacted to meet the pet at a convenient time. We ask that everyone who will be living with the pet attend the meeting. Also, for dogs if you have an existing dog we will introduce the dogs during the adoption process. Step 4) Home Check While a home visit is required prior to final placement, it does not guarantee adoption. We like to see where our pets will be living to make sure that they will be in a safe and secure environment. Often we can help with unforeseen health risks and help secure yards and fences that first time owners might miss. Step 5) Adoption Contract The adoption contract is a legal binding contract between the adopter and our organization. If, for any reason, the adoption of one of our pets DOES NOT work out, you MUST return the animal to The Rescue Train. Step 6) Tax Deductible Donation There is a minimum, tax deductible, non-refundable donation of $250.00 per dog, $500.00 for "Trained For Life Dogs", $125 per cat or $200 for a pair of cats. The donation helps us recoup a small fraction of our pet care costs. Step 7) Delivery of Your New Family Member We come with education and helpful hints to help things go smoothly and take the guess work out of what to expect when bringing your new pet home. Each pet has a team of people behind him/her and we are here to be a support system if you should need us.
