Ascher's Story

Hi, Im Ascher.

Im an old American Bully with a big head, a big heart, and a story I never thought Id have to tell.

My human raised me from a puppy. He was my whole world my routine, my comfort, my home. And then, one day, he was just gone. He passed suddenly, and everything I knew disappeared overnight. I didnt understand why the house went quiet or why no one came through the door anymore. I just knew I was alone.

But people showed up for me. Kind people. They stepped in when I needed someone the most. My foster, Becky, opened her home and made sure I was safe, loved, and treated like I still mattered because I do.

The vet says Im an amazing dog (I mean, I wont argue). I love people with everything Ive got. I love to be close, to be touched, to be cuddled. Ive even started working toward becoming a therapy dog, because comforting others feels natural to me. I guess when youve been through loss, you understand how important soft moments are.

Ive got some allergies, and Im a senior now, so chances are Ill stay in foster care for the rest of my life. And honestly? Thats okay. I just want somewhere warm to lay my head, someone to lean against, and a human who sees me.

I may have lost the person who raised me, but I havent lost my capacity to love.

Im still here, still gentle, still hopeful and still deserving of a soft landing.

Please visit our website desertpawssanctuary.org to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs and cats.
