Arya's Story

Meet Arya — A Gentle Soul Searching for Her Person
Arya is a sweet, sensitive girl with a huge heart and so much love to give. She bonds deeply with her people, and once she trusts you, she becomes an incredibly loyal and affectionate companion. New situations can make Arya a bit anxious, and she may pant, pace, or whine when she’s feeling unsure. With patience, consistency, and kindness, she relaxes beautifully and shows her soft, loving personality. She’s the kind of dog who truly thrives when she feels safe with her person. Because Arya was fearful of a toddler in her previous home, she’s looking for a calm, adult-only household where she can decompress and feel secure. She may also enjoy sharing her home with a mellow, low-key dog, so a meet-and-greet with a resident pup is encouraged. Potential adopters who appear to be a good match will meet with a member of our Behavior or Animal Care leadership team to help set Arya—and you—up for success and ensure it’s the right fit for everyone. If you’re patient, gentle, and ready to build a meaningful bond with an incredible dog, come meet Arya. Your new best friend might be waiting for you!

This pet is eligible for an Adoption Audition! What is an Adoption Audition? For Arya, we are offering a 14-day, no-strings-attached, trial adoption period. You can take this pet home to try it out! Interested? Come to the shelter any time during open hours and talk to one of our Customer Care staff.

Be sure to check the "shelter information" box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours!
