Artie's Story

Artie is a sweet boy who was found as a stray and never claimed. That seems to be happening more and more, sadly. I took him out for a short walk and he was very good on a leash. He was well-behaved and posed nicely for pictures. He has an intense stare and some beautiful, unique eyes and a unique coat! He is smaller than he looks in pictures and would be a great size for any home (currently 26 pounds). He is a little character and is such a fun little guy! He plays in a dog play group with dogs twice his size and holds his own with them. He can be a rough and tumble boy when he plays and a cuddler when he is relaxed. He will chase cats, but he likes kids (he will likely jump, so smaller kids may not be the best for him). The Humane Society of Clinton County, Indiana's Adoption Policy
We require a "foster to adopt" program for all adopters, whether it be that the pet that you are interested in still has some medical work up to be done or whether we just want to give the pet time to adjust. An application is required to be filled out at the time of adoption. No appointment required to visit the animals during open hours. Upon finalizing adoption, each pet is current on vaccinations, altered, microchipped, FeLV/FIV test and/or heartworm tested. All animals over 7 years of age will have bloodwork performed at the vet. All known medical issues will be taken care of at the vet prior to finalizing adoption (dental cleanings, hernia repairs, mass removals, etc.).
