Arthur's Story

A Tiny Guy from Tijuana – Meet Arthur!

Arthur is a Male almost 4-month-old, 5-pound, Chihuahua-mix originally from Tijuana, Mexico. Arthur made his cross-country journey to the East Coast and New York City debut on January 8. So far, he has adjusted very well during his time in the city and does not seem to be bothered by sirens or loud noises outside.

Arthur enjoys cuddling up with the blankets, playing fetch with his toys (he really loves his stuffed lamb!) and constant zoomies off whatever he can reach! While he is still trying his best with “sit” and working on other obedience training and is very food/treat motivated (a tasty treat will get this boy to just about anything!).

During his time with his foster family, he has been very good using pee pads and has clear body language on when he needs to go potty. He is still unsure about the chilly outdoors (who could blame him after spending time in his last foster home in sunny California!), but after some movement and a warm-up, he will eventually go potty oudoors. Arthur's forever family will need continued understanding and patience as he fully masters house-training. A consistent schedule will help him achieve his fully housetrained goal sooner.

Arthur is continuing working on his leash skills, sometimes pulling in the direction he wants to go, rather than the direction he should. Continued leash and general obedience training will be needed – but with his adorable looks, will that really be an issue?!

Arthur is an intelligent, charming, and endearing pup. His forever family will need to continue working with Arthur to reinforce and advance the progress he's been making. After a recent separation from his sibling, and adjusting to new surroundings, Arthur has experienced some mild puppy separation anxiety. Consistent crate-training and short absences will help him conquor his fears in no time!

Most of all, Arthur loves to be cozy with his foster family and can often be found with his favorite lamb stuffy. Arthur is looking for a family that wants to cuddle hard and play harder, just like him.

Arthur would do just fine as a solo dog, altough he'd probably love to have a new brother or sister. Though there weren't resident dogs in his foster home, he enjoyed all the new friends he made and was constantly intrigued by his foster sister, Tisha (the cat), often following her and trying to figure out what she was about!

Arthur is an absolute prince and will make an excellent companion for any home! MIght his forever home be with you?

Vaccinated for age-appropriate vaccines including rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, microchipped and neutered. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

To apply for Arthur, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.

Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.

Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org
