Arizona H's Story

This most handsome Shepherd/Malinois Mix was pulled from a high-kill shelter in California. Severe flooding in the area required emergency shelters to move existing dogs out in order to make room for newly homeless dogs whose families may have been searching for them. Arizona is is a fascinating dog. He is high energy, strong and driven. He is absolutely wild over toys. When he was first brought to the HUA Agility Room for assessment, Arizona became very focused as he searched through all the toys. He is treat motivated as well, but toys even trump food. He knows his basic commands and he is so clever that he is eager to learn everything we can teach him. Arizona does well with other dogs, both male and female. Arizona needs mental stimulation and exercise in order for him to enjoy a happy life. Experience with working breeds is suggested. When Arizona was still in California he was having occasional seizures, probably due to overexcitement in the kennel. He was diagnosed with epilepsy, and his current medications are effective at keeping the seizures at bay. Overstimulation can bring them about but for the most part, Arizona is living a happy, normal life.

Visit Arizona at www.hua.org!
