Aries's Story

Pet Location: Aries is currently living in a foster home! I’m a snuggly, chill, laidback, quiet friend who just wants to be by your side. It really is as simple as that for me. A couch to curl up on, my favorite person to give me a belly rub, a few toys to play with...these are the things that make me happy. I hope maybe you’re looking for a loyal companion who enjoys a peaceful, easy life, because that’s me! And I’m ready to be your dog.

I’m a handsome, 6 1/2-year-old, 92-pound bundle of love and sweetness, with gentle eyes, a bright smile, a unique spot of fur on my side that is the shape of a heart, and a happy, friendly, lovely personality. I’m already housebroken and crate trained too, although I might whine a bit as I settle in my crate. It’s just that I’d rather be with you all the time instead of alone in a crate. I could stand to lose a few pounds, so I hope you’ll help me out with that by providing me with nutritious food and light exercise. Getting to a healthy weight will help me feel better and will keep arthritis at bay as I get older. I had an old injury to my left hind leg that has healed on its own, but I still favor it at times. It doesn’t slow me down or keep me from jumping up on the couch though, so life is good!

I originally came to Wayside as a wee pup with my whole precious life ahead of me, and I was quickly adopted by a nice family. I’ve had a good life, but sadly, they are no longer able to take care of me. Coming to Wayside felt stressful and lonely, as I sat in my kennel and worried about my future. That’s when Foster Mom came into my life. She has made such a difference for me, taking me home and helping me to relax and enjoy life once again. Ah, it feels so nice to be back in a home, even if this is just a temporary stop on my journey. Hoping that my next stop will be with you!

I quickly made myself at home in foster and became a true member of the family. I love to follow my foster parents around from room to room just in case they might need me for anything. And when they have a quiet day of chilling on the couch, I am right there with them! Given the opportunity, I would happily cuddle up close on the couch all day long, stretching out for an occasional belly rub. The comfort and contentment I feel when I’m with my people is hard to put into words. Foster Mom says I’m like a perfect weighted blanket at the end of a long work day when I crawl up next to her.

I’m very well behaved in the house, other than occasionally checking out the trash. Oops! I’m not destructive at all. I like to entertain myself with my toys, especially squeaky plush toys, but also chew and rope toys. I’m a perfect gentleman with visitors. I don’t jump up or bark, and I politely and calmly approach them for pets. In fact, I haven’t barked at all during my time in foster. I stay in my crate when no one is home and I peacefully sleep on my dog bed on the floor in the bedroom. I’m well behaved in our fenced backyard, too, where I like to leisurely sniff and explore at my own pace. Overall, I am just a calm, gentle, low-maintenance friend.

I live with another dog in my foster home and we do just fine together. We occasionally engage in light play or romp together in the yard, but we mostly just hang out and coexist. I will be happiest with other low energy dogs who don’t pester me to play. Of course I’ll do just great as your only dog as well. I need a home without cats, and if you have smaller dogs under 30 pounds or so, I will need to meet them before we go home together, to make sure that we’re a good match. I’d love to find a calm and quiet home where I can be the center of attention. I hope that you’ll love spending time with me!

Sharing a peaceful and safe life with people I love is all that I dream of. I can’t wait to be your constant companion and your loyal friend. Always. That’s what I do best. And it makes me so happy just thinking about you.

Love, Aries
