Ariel's Story
Meet Ariel!
Ariel is a 1-year-old pup and weighs about 40 pounds. Ariel is a sweet young dog whose favorite thing to do is to play tug-of-war with both people and dogs. She enjoys chew toys and ropes and loves to curl up on the couch in the evening. Ariel is smart, learns quickly, and is motivated by treats during training sessions. She knows "sit" and is currently working on learning "down", "touch", "drop," and "leave it". She gets along with other dogs well and has seamlessly settled into the pack of 3 resident dogs at her current foster home. She enjoys playing and running with dogs. She is crate and house trained.

Ariel has lived with kids and a cat in a previous foster home and they reported that she loved playing with their kids and is curious and friendly around the cat. She enters her crate well and sleeps in it quietly at night. During the day, she has had difficulty settling in her crate when she is in a new location and she will bark off and on throughout the day. This behavior decreased after a few days but she would do best in a home without shared walls.
Ariel has been diagnosed with a torn cranial cruciate ligament in her left rear leg. The cruciate ligament is found in the knee and is responsible for maintaining the stability of the knee joint (it is similar to the ACL in people). Ariel is mildly effected at this time. She occasionally takes a few steps without putting pressure on this leg but prior to her diagnosis she would run at full speed around the yard with no issues. At this time, Ariel is a candidate for a surgery that the Underdog vets in the process of getting training and supplies to be able to perform this surgery. If the future adopter is interested in Underdog providing this surgery with the understanding that the vets are trained on the procedure but are not board certified surgeons and in the learning process, Underdog can provide this surgery at no cost after adoption. Other options would be looking into getting surgery services with another clinic at the owner's own expense.
Even though Ariel has experienced this set back to finding her forever home, she continues to be her smart, affectionate, intelligent pup who would benefit from an adopter who wants to continue her training as she learns to be a confident and well-mannered young dog.

Interested in this sweet dog?
