Aria's Story

*** AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION, FOSTER, or FOSTER TO ADOPT ***

Meet Miss Aria! She is currently in our P.A.C.K. Program, a 9-week intensive program for routine obedience, agility, and handling training with a prison inmate trainer and she is almost ready to show off her new skills! Her new abilities include 'sit', 'down', 'shake' and more! New adopters should realize that PACK Program graduates will require regular, ongoing reinforcement of learned behaviors in order for them to become permanent.

When Aria first arrived, she was quite timid and scared. She hasn't had the easiest start to life. But since starting her PACK journey, she's really started to blossom! She will gladly come up and say hi to new people now. Her handler said she's always happy now. When meeting her new family, some nervous tendencies may come back, so she may need some time to get to know new people again.

She likes to play with other dogs in PACK but needs reminders to take quite breaks every now and then. She's also started to really enjoy fetch. She brings the ball back and waits for it to be thrown again.

Aria is still working on her house training but making progress each and every day. She's only had a couple accidents while at PACK. Regulating her water intake also helps her.

When we first introduced her to cats, she was scared and shut down. In a previous home though she had lived peacefully with them.

Aria is set to graduate mid-April and is eager to meet her new family. Apply to meet her today!

Black Dog Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
BDAR considers pet adoption to be a privilege and that good pet owners can demonstrate a history of responsible practices. Our basic requirements are as follows: Adopters must be at least 18 years of age Adopters’ current pets must be current on their rabies vaccination per local ordinances Adopters must be able to provide a current veterinary reference if they own other pets or have recently owned pets If the adopter rents, they must be able to provide a landlord reference stating that pets are allowed on the property Adopter cannot intend for the animal to be kept as an outdoor only pet, or for the primary mode of containment to be tethering Adopters must be a good match for the animal in question as determined by our adoption counselors Our adoption fees includes spay or neuter, current age appropriate vaccinations, microchip with lifetime registration, a free first vet exam, and 30 free days of pet health insurance. A note about our adoption fees: BDAR utilizes a variable pricing structure for all of its adoptable animals. Adoption fees are determined based on an animal's perceived desirability, age, training or medical investment, and the length of time they have been available for adoption. Some animals are priced higher than others. These animals' adoption fees provide a legacy gift for others in the program who may need additional resources in order to get the same chance in a forever home.
