Preferred but not required.

Archie is an Adult male, 60-pound Lab mix who made the long journey from South Carolina with a few medical challenges to over come — a neck abscess, Heartworm, and Lyme disease. But don’t let that scare you off — Archie’s a survivor. He’s healed up beautifully, completed all his treatments, and is now ready to spend his future years the way we all hope too: in comfort, and surrounded by love. He just wants a backyard to call his own and a spot on the couch.

Archie isn’t looking for a fast-paced lifestyle. He’s the kind of dog who enjoys the simple things — a peaceful walk around the block, a car ride with the windows down, or a cozy afternoon spent by your side. Thunderstorms and crowds don’t bother him a bit. He’s steady, easygoing, and unfazed by life’s little surprises — the kind of companion who brings calm wherever he goes. He’s a good boy every day whether it be curled up next to the fireplace or on the floor near you while you relax in your easy chair.

He adores people and has that special kind of quiet loyalty that only comes with maturity. He’s always near ready to casually play with you, take a walk or just be there with you. He won’t be bouncing off the walls, or demanding your attention because he is happy with the simple things in life. If you’re looking for a calm, loving companion with soulful eyes and an appreciation for the quiet life — someone who’s content to just be with you — Archie may just be the perfect match.

Due to genetic traits Archie is alert to strange sounds, things and people who are not familiar to him — he is not aggressive but will bark or growl as a warning to protect himself and his pack. Proper socialization has always been an important part of his training. He is the guardian of his pack and will warn all intruders of his presence and alert his pack of potential danger. He does not bark unless there is a good reason. The gray around his muzzle is not reflective of his age as much as his breed. Being a lab mix, it’s difficult to tell which breed is contributing to the gray.

When it comes to other dogs, Archie prefers a solo act. He’s not anti-social, just very much into peace and personal space. After everything he’s been through, he’s more than earned the right to enjoy a home where he doesn’t have to share the couch, the snacks, or your attention.

Archie like any dog would benefit from continual training and guidance. The structure and activities make them happy and keeps their mind engaged. Dogs left to their own devices will make decisions like a 2 yr old. Archie is very definitely a smart dog, he learns fast and anticipates what you may be thinking. He aims to please his pack and especially his pack leader looking for your admiration and affection.

Archie could possibly be the most devoted and loyal fur baby for your pack. Why not fill out an application today and fulfill Archie’s dream of a loving, forever family of his very own.
