Arabella - The Perfect Girl

Looking for a best friend who’ll make you smile every single day? Meet Arabella, a three-year-old Cattle Dog mix with a heart as big as her personality! Arabella is a bundle of love and joy — she adores affection and will happily soak up all the pets and cuddles you have to offer. <br/><br/>Arabella is immediately friendly with new people. She loves to be pet and cuddled, regardless of how long she has known the person. She is a great cuddle buddy during movies and will stay by your side, or in your lap, the entire time. She especially loves blankets and requests her future parents leave a blanket for her on the couch. She very much believes in the phrase "if I fits, I sits" and will try to fit her entire body on a blanket, even if it is folded and way too small for her. <br/><br/>Arabella is playful and full of fun, often showing off her silly side with her "woos" and grumbles, happy tail wags, and her signature “smile.” Don’t let her goofy charm fool you though — Arabella is a well-behaved girl who’s eager to please and learns quickly.<br/><br/>Arabella enjoys the company of other dogs, with slow, gentle introductions to help her feel comfortable. She is currently being fostered with 3 large dogs, her size and larger, and is wonderful with them. She plays well with them, sleeps in the same dog bed with one of the dogs every night (each night she chooses a different dog to snuggle up with), and feels most confident with other, new dogs when she has a familiar friend with her. She does well meeting dogs in passing such as in public venues, especially with a familiar dog with her.<br/><br/>Arabella was discovered behind a business, hiding beneath a house with her 7 puppies. Every day, she would cross a busy street to find food—always bringing it back to feed her babies before eating anything herself. She was gentle, calm, and the best mom. She avoided people, quietly keeping her distance from people and never bothering anyone. The night before she was rescued, witnesses saw her bravely fending off stray dogs trying to reach her puppies. When she was brought into our program, her body was covered in both fresh and healed bite wounds. Eventually, it was discovered that she had been shot with a BB pellet. Despite everything she’s endured, Arabella remains gentle and loving and takes no time to trust new people. She deserves the best home that will continue to show her that life is beautiful and safe.<br/><br/>Whether you’re looking for a hiking buddy, a playmate, or a snuggle partner for quiet nights in, Arabella is ready to fill that role and your heart. The adoption process consists of an application, reference checks, phone interview, and video chat with the pet and foster parent!<br/><br/>The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccines (rabies, DHPP and booster, and Bordatella), microchip with free lifetime registration, deworming, transport, heartworm test, heartworm and flea prevention during the pet's time in our program as well as 2 free months of heartworm and flea prevention to be sent in their adoption packet!<br/><br/>We are volunteers with a passion to reduce the stray population and unnecessary euthanasia in South Texas. According to Shelter Animals Count, an almost 100,000 cats and dogs were euthanized in Texas shelters in 2024.
