Apollo 0071's Story
Apollo has been in our care since April 2025. He is a medium-energy, easy-going dog who is currently showing signs of depression. Apollo has not yet bonded strongly with a person, and a recent adoption placement did not work out, as he showed little interest in engaging with his new family. He does best in environments where his needs are understood and he can be supported in building confidence and social connection.

The challenges:

-Currently showing signs of depression, including low activity, lack of appetite, and withdrawal.
-Has not yet formed a strong bond with a person.
-Needs guidance and consistent encouragement to engage socially and participate in enrichment.
-May not be a good match for adopters seeking an immediately interactive or attention-seeking dog.

The good stuff:

-Play style is easy-going, enjoying medium-energy running and wrestling.
-Coexists well with dogs whose energy matches his own, as seen in playgroups with Jug Head and Wally.
-Can enjoy social interaction and play when paired with compatible canine companions.
-Responds positively to calm, structured environments and low-pressure engagement.

Dog-to-dog observations:

-Matches well with dogs of similar play style and energy, enjoying rough-and-rowdy play and body slams.
-Benefits from supervised introductions to dogs with varying personalities to find compatible playmates.
-Prefers structured, calm interaction rather than high-intensity or chaotic group settings.

Who he needs:

Apollo is looking for a patient, understanding adopter or foster who can provide structure, encouragement, and gentle engagement. He will do best in a home where his emotional needs are supported, and where he has the opportunity to interact with compatible canine companions. One-on-one attention, calm routines, and enrichment activities will help him build confidence and engagement.

Apollo isn't a fast-moving social butterfly, but with time, patience, and the right support, he has the potential to grow into a confident, happy companion who enjoys play, connection, and a calm, structured home.
