Apache's Story

Meet Apache

Apache is a mellow, loyal German Shepherd with a gentle soul and a heart that opens slowly-but deeply. He may take a little time to bond, but once he knows you're his person and he's finally home, he'll be right by your side, soaking up cuddles and companionship.

Apache is fully house-trained, and has done well with other dogs both here at the shelter and in his temporary foster home. He's not a high-maintenance guy-he just wants a calm, steady home where he can relax.

He has shown some curiosity (and vocal opinions!) toward cats, so a cat-free home might be easiest, though with a slow and thoughtful introduction, coexisting might be possible. He would do best in a home with one or two people, without children!

Like a true German Shepherd, Apache can be a bit barky, especially when alerting you to what he thinks you should know- just your classic GSD guardian instincts on display.

Apache is looking for a quiet home where he can enjoy daily walks, soft beds, steady routines, and a person to lean on. If you're patient, loving, and looking for a loyal companion who will repay your kindness with endless affection, Apache might just be your guy.

Sarge's Animal Rescue Foundation's Adoption Policy
Our adoption applications are located at https://www.sarges.org/adopt-a-pet/. Our adoptable cats and dogs are taken directly from Shelters, Rescues and Individuals in Western North Carolina. They are all tested for heartworm or FeLV/FIV, given appropriate vaccinations and preventatives for heartworms/fleas/ticks, microchipped, and spayed or neutered. The basic adoption fee is $50 for cats and $75 for kittens. Please contact us by email to find out about the cost of adoption for dogs - these fees range from $50 to $125 for adult dogs, and $175 for puppies. We also have adoption specials that take place - please visit www.sarges.org for more details. We have some animals in foster care, so please contact us before making a visit to meet a specific animal. The quickest way to get the ball rolling is an adoption application. It does not commit you to adopting - it just starts the conversation. We adopt animals out every day we are open so some animals may have pending applications already on file.
