You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.<br/><br/>Anonimo—known as Mo—was named after the Italian masculine form of “anonymous,” chosen due to the popularity of the name “anonymous” (well “anonymous participant”) on social media. He is an 18‑month‑old, neutered black brindle Neapolitan Mastiff.<br/><br/>The Rescue:<br/><br/>In July of 2024 we were contacted by his breeder that she had 5 puppies that couldn’t be sold and since she was moving needed them placed. All 5 required immediate vet care and cherry eye removal.<br/><br/>MRI was willing to help these puppies, get them vetted and, when ready for adoption, finding forever homes with breed experienced adopters who were well suited to take on the needs of our breed. By now, it's common knowledge that we have a group of malicious detractors who have been working against MRI and these individuals were successful in getting these puppies into another rescue.<br/><br/>As a result of our detractors’ myopic efforts, the puppies went to an all-breed rescue. They were properly vetted before being placed for adoption. The last puppy, a male, went to an adoptive home that had no Neo experience and a resident dog who is another adult male guardian breed. At this point, most of us can guess where this story is going.<br/><br/>Mo’s adopters, lacking Neo experience, were unable to provide the structure needed to manage an adolescent Neo with another male guardian breed. The adopters originally threatened to euthanize Mo but fortunately, they honored their adoption contract which stated that the dog had to be returned and reached out to the original rescue. However, they were not able to take Mo back.<br/><br/>Mo was in a desperate situation. Luckily someone read about Mo and recognized that he deserved a chance in a breed experienced home where he was given the opportunity to thrive. We at MRI couldn’t allow a puppy, who had been placed in the wrong environment, to be euthanized. The original rescue agreed to a rescue-to-rescue transfer once MRI had a foster home in place.<br/><br/>The next day Mo was picked up, taken to one of our great vet partners where he was brought current on all his vaccines, heartworm tested, and given a health certificate for transport to an experienced foster home that stepped up immediately with no hesitation.<br/>In total, 6 rescues worked together coordinating 5 drivers and an overnight stay along the way.<br/><br/>About Mo:<br/><br/>During transport and since arriving in foster care, Mo consistently presented as a well‑mannered, affectionate gentleman. He settled in quickly and demonstrated excellent behavior—walking well on leash, riding calmly in the car, crating easily, and being fully housebroken. He is sweet, people‑oriented, and eager for attention.<br/><br/>Mo is ~114 pounds, likely due to early neutering. While previously reported as not dog‑friendly, his foster believed that after decompression and gradual, proper introductions—particularly with a compatible female—Mo would benefit from canine companionship.<br/><br/>Mo needs a breed‑experienced home, with a fenced yard, and no children under 16.
