Annie's Story

Annie is a 2–3-year-old Black Mouth Cur mix and has been spayed.

Annie may be mostly Black Mouth Cur, but what is extra is all magic. She has a strong personality with just enough sensitivity to keep things interesting. She will test your limits and take any liberties given. She quickly responds to correction, but care must be taken to not overdo it, as she can get her feelings hurt quite easily; however, all is forgiven just as quickly. A highly intelligent, mischievous, all-around companion that comes in a manageable package. If Annie sounds like a dog for you and you have the time to invest you would be hard pressed to find a better dog.

Annie has been found to be high-energy and exuberant. Dogs such as these can be challenging to own unless they are provided with sufficient exercise and mental stimulation. Often, we mistakenly interpret their boredom as misbehavior. Though friendly, this dog may not be ideally suited for a family with small children or elderly people as she may inadvertently knock them down or jump on them. The following are some suggestions for successfully adopting a dog like Annie.

Exercise daily. Letting a dog out into the backyard is not considered sufficient exercise. A dog like Annie needs to be actively engaged either by playing interactive games like fetching and retrieving or going for a controlled run.

Mental stimulation is just as important as the physical exercise. Obedience training is a valuable tool that both challenges the dog and reinforces the bond between the human and the dog.

Give the dog a job. Activities such as agility training or search and rescue are entertaining and challenging ways to participate in the canine community. They require both mental and physical activity, and they help the dog to focus.

Please contact TIRR at www.tirrrescue.org or tirrrescue@gmail.com to get more information on adopting Annie.

If you are unable to adopt, please consider a small donation for her care or for other dogs in the TIRR Rescue program. https://www.tirrrescue.org/donate

More ways to support us:
Amazon Wishlist https://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/YKLKRTQ7GWKN
