Annie's Story

Annie 5-year-old female chocolate Lab (mix?) 90-lbs Spayed
Foster and/or Adopter

Annie running on the beach -- https://youtube.com/shorts/UtMZqs8Hg_8

Annie running crazy -- https://youtube.com/shorts/MpUgMIhhX2A

Annie going or a walk: -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtEBBzAWVaE&feature=youtu.be

Background:
Annie has lived with her family, including a canine sister, since she was a puppy. Given the arrival of a new human baby and work demands they have decided it best for Annie to be rehomed to reduce her stress and allow her to thrive and get the attention she needs.

What Annie's Owners Say:
It’s with a heavy heart that we’re looking for a new home for our beloved chocolate Lab, Annie. Annie is a 90-pound sweetheart with a big heart and an even bigger love for the simple things in life—carrots, cozy naps, and being close to her people.

Annie is incredibly loyal and attentive—she once even protected me by stopping me from walking outside when someone was hiding near my door. Annie has so much love to give, and we’re hoping to find her a safe, quiet home where she can be someone’s cherished best friend.

What Annie's Foster Says:
Annie is a curious, bright, and people-focused dog who approaches the world with enthusiasm and heart. On walks, she loves to investigate every interesting scent and is happy to say hello to the people she meets along the way. At home, she takes her role as “yard supervisor” seriously, keeping a watchful eye out for any squirrels that dare cross her path.

Annie has a sweet, eager-to-please personality and truly enjoys being close to her people. If you’re working at a computer, don’t be surprised if she gently nudges your elbow to ask for some affection—she simply wants to be part of whatever you’re doing. She’s also attentive to sounds around her and will alert you when there’s activity outside.

On leash, Annie needs a confident and observant handler, as she can be reactive to other dogs, particularly larger ones. She’s not a good candidate for dog parks or off leash play with other dogs and would do best as the only dog in the home. That said, she is well trained, knows her basic commands, and has solid recall—especially when treats are involved.

Annie’s favorite game is tug-of-war, which she plays with gusto—making her a great match for an active adult or a household with older kids or teens. When she’s excited, she can be a bit physical in her play, so a home with steady, dog-savvy family members would be ideal.

What Annie's Rescue Rep Says: Annie is a delightful, middle-aged chocolate sweetheart with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She thrives on regular exercise and truly values quality time with her people, making her a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys including their dog in daily life.

Annie has previously lived with another dog and may do well in a home with an existing calm, well-mannered dog, provided introductions are handled slowly and thoughtfully. She would be happiest in a home with older children who can respect her space and energy, and with adopters who won’t leave her alone for long stretches of the day.

Her experience with cats is unknown. Annie is looking for a committed, attentive home where she can enjoy structure, companionship, and plenty of love—and where she can continue being the loyal, affectionate dog she’s meant to be.

Medical:
Spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. Currently taking medication for seasonal allergies.

Located In: Alameda.

If you are interested in Annie, please email Rescue Rep Kathy at ksmillich@gmail.com. In your email, please tell me about yourself and why you would be a good fit for Annie.
