All I want in life is to belong, to be your constant companion, to feel your love and to give it right back to you. I hope you want that too. And I hope you decide that you need me in your life just as much as I need you.

I’m an adorable, 4 1/2-year-old, 55-pound mixed breed, with the cutest, expressive face, gentle, soulful eyes, and an easygoing, unassuming, delightful personality. I’m even already housebroken and crate trained. How about that? I’m one smart cookie, eager to learn and quick to pick up on new lessons. I was transferred to Wayside from the KC Pet Project when they were running low on space. It was stressful and confusing getting transferred to a new shelter, especially when I kept getting passed by for adoption. I’m such a nice dog and I’m in the prime of my life, so I’m not sure what I’ve been doing wrong. I guess I was feeling sorta sorry for myself, but that all changed when Foster Mom came into my life! She makes me feel so special and loved. Ah, I can relax and just enjoy life for the first time in ages.

I settled right in and made myself at home from the very first day, as I curled up next to Foster Mom on the couch and let out a big sigh. I have perfect house manners. I don’t bother a thing or require supervision. Foster Mom works from home, which I love, because it means that we get to spend lots of time together. I stay in my crate at night and for short periods when no one is home, and I don’t mind it there. I might bark a little before I drift off to sleep, but I settle quickly and sleep through the night. I like to sit by the window and watch the world go by, letting Foster Mom know if I spot a dog walking by. I love everyone I meet, and I always enjoy when people stop by to visit. I might softly jump up in a friendly, inquisitive way, but I’m not barky or rude. Overall, I think you’ll find that I’m just a really nice friend to spend your day with.

Besides my couch time, I also like to have some exercise and adventure and fun. I love to spend time in our fenced backyard at my foster home. I’m well behaved, never trying to escape, and dutifully keeping all squirrels out of our yard. Yep, I like to chase the squirrels, along with exploring, hanging out, acting goofy, or just chilling in the fresh air. And my absolute favorite time of the day is when I see Foster Mom pull out my leash and harness for a walk! I get so excited that I can hardly stand it. I mostly walk great on my leash, sniffing and soaking up all the great smells of nature, although I sometimes get a little crazy when I see other animals, so please keep a tight hold on my leash. A daily walk through our neighborhood or on the local trails sounds fabulous to me.

I don’t live with other animals in my foster home, and that setup suits me just fine. I chased after cats that I lived with in a previous home, so my Wayside friends recommend that I go to a cat-free home. I never socialized much with other dogs in my past, and I’m not the sort of dog you could take to a dog park. Still, I worked hard during my time at Wayside with the trainers, and I made lots of progress getting comfortable with other dogs. If you have another dog, I will need to meet them before we go home together, to make sure that we’re a great match. Of course, you’re the one who I really want to spend my time with. I hope that you will make me an important and engaged member of the family.

If you’re searching for a loving, loyal, cuddly companion who will greet each day with enthusiasm and affection, I might just be the girl for you. I’m ready to bring joy, warmth, and lots of snuggles into a home of my own. That’s truly all I’ve ever wanted. I can’t wait to be your dog.

Love, Anise
