Angel and Blondie - Bonded Sisters - Coming in June

The extended family could not care for them because they have large dogs who are not fans. The family asked us to bring Angel and Blondie into our program and help them find a new forever home in memory of their parents. Angel and Blondie are now safely in one of our CRT foster homes.<br/><br/>Angel and Blondie have lived together their entire lives and are very bonded. We are going to keep them together (they have lost everything else they have ever known, it would break our hearts to have them lose each other). They are both sweet girls. They are a little shy, but are coming out of their shells and are very loving.<br/><br/>Angel has a long coat. She is about 5 years old and is only 5.3 pounds. Blondie has a short coat. She is about 5 years old and is 6.2 pounds. They enjoy belly rubs and relaxing. There is a crinkly toy that they both love. They are doing great on their potty habits. They are happy girls.<br/><br/>Unfortunately the original owners had never taken Angel and Blondie to the vet. So we have some work ahead. We have completed their heartworm tests (they were both negative – yeah) and have completed their vaccinations. Next they need to be spayed and microchipped. They will also need some dental work, which is expensive. And the toughest news – they both have luxating patellas and will need surgeries on their back legs. Although all four back legs (two on each chihuahua) have the issue, two are major and definitely need surgery and two are minor and can likely go without surgery. This is news we were not prepared for – each surgery is about $2000 so we are looking at a $4000 bill in addition to the vaccinations, spay, dental work and microchips. Probably a minimum of $5000 for our rescue – wow. CRT doesn’t rescue halfway. When we say yes to a dog, we fund and finish all of their vet care — no matter how expensive. A huge thank you to all our supporters who contribute throughout the year and help us continue this mission.<br/><br/>With their upcoming surgeries and recovery time, Angel and Blondie will be ready for adoption around the May / June time frame. We’ll keep you updated on their journey.<br/><br/>Angel and Blondie are being fostered in the Dallas-Fort Worth (Texas) area. They need to have luxating patella surgeries done. They recovery time is estimated to be about the June timeframe. At that time they will be ready to join their forever family – could that be you?<br/><br/>These dogs are a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $300.00 adoption donation per Chihuahua is required ($600 for the pair). All vet work is completed. Due to the high cost of the patella surgeries, CRT would be appreciative if the adopting family could launch a fundraiser to help offset the cost of the surgeries on these sweet girls.<br/><br/>As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heart worm prevention.
