Amira Anatolian Shepherd & Afghan Hound Mix Huntingtown, MD

Amira is an 8 months old Shepherd mix. We did a wisdom panel with her, and results were 25 percent Anatolian Shepherd, 12.5 percent Afghan hound 12.5 percent Canaan dog. 12.5 percent German Shepherd . 37.5 lbs mixed breed.


Amira has a unique coat. A feathery light, medium length coat which is derived from one of her Afghan hound ancestors. Little to no shedding has been observed by us.

Amira will be a large dog. She ranges around 65 lbs now, but she is very tall and will continue to grow. To make a good life for Amira, she should go to a home that can exercise her. True to her Anatolian and German Shepherd heritage, Amira is amazing with her family and will want to protect her property. She has done great with socialization on walks and when going to places and has reacted with wags and allowed petting by strangers.

A privacy fence would be ideal or a home that is rural.... She is very playful with other dogs and non-confrontational. She loves people but new people should be introduced to her when entering the home so she can be sure that they did not come uninvited. For that reason, we recommend a home with older children, or a household that does not have unexpected coming and goings of new people all the time. Experienced shepherd owner preferred.
