Amigo's Story
Although this little fella doesn't look it, he currently weighs 21 pounds and it extremely solid. He is an absolute character and came into the rescue after he wandered to someone's house where he stayed for 1 week and despite every attempt to fins an owner, we were unable. With bitter cold coming on we found him a foster and moved him indoors where he thinks he may like it! He was covered in ticks and subsequently tested positive for Lyme so he is in the middle of the treatment and soon will be neutered and good to go. He is a fairly independent little guy who does love time and attention with his person. He is extremely easy to care for as his coat is short, he doesn't require a ton of grooming, he walks well on a leash and rides well in a car. He is a good eater and does get very excited when you feed him. It is certainly the most exciting parts of his day. Larger dogs do scare him, He will retreat and bark from behind something as he seems to be afraid of being attacked. We have no idea how long he was out but he certainly developed some street smarts during that time. He loved his trip to the vets office and was very excited about all of the attention being on him until the blood draw needed to occur. He was not a happy little man and did need to be muzzled for that part of the exam, but overall things went easily. Amigo seems to like a more quiet household where he can focus on just one or 2 people so he definitely would be a great companion pet for empty nesters or single people. He isn't bad with children at all, he just doesn't seem to appreciate the noise and chaos that can sometimes accompany small children and their friends.
