Amber - Sweet Senior Looking for Retirement Home!'s Story

Our sweet Amber had a wonderful life with a loving owner and a doggy sister her same age, 13. Everything was great, until her elderly owner had to go to assisted living, and there was no one to take the girls....<br/><br/>They ended up at an overcrowded shelter, and at their ages the odds of adoption were slim. :(<br/><br/>We were watching them and desperately trying to get them out, together. We needed a foster willing to take both, and Amber's sister, Saphira, was a Great Dane, which didn't make it any easier!<br/><br/>We finally found someone, just as Saphira started to severely decline. We got them out and they were reunited.. but sadly Saphira didn't survive more than one more day. <br/><br/>Amber was so happy to be with her sister, and clearly sad when she could tell she wasn't well. She stayed by her side that whole day. We worried that she would be so depressed after yet another loss, that she might meet the same fate! Instead, she almost seemed relieved and knowing, that her sister wasn't suffering any more.<br/><br/>She became playful, and happy, surrounded by love in her foster home! Amber's personality came back, and she is a WONDERFUL dog!! <br/><br/>At her age, she has some bumps and growths that we will have checked out, but otherwise she seems great health-wise!<br/><br/>Her foster reports that she is easy and gentle. She would fit into any home that just wants a sweet companion who doesn't ask for much! But don't think she doesn't enjoy going for walks, chasing a toy, or just enjoying the day by your side!<br/><br/>If that's the kind of best friend you're looking for, please copy the link below and paste in your browser to apply! :)<br/><br/>https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/GARP/Dog<br/><br/>Please also follow us on Facebook to keep up with all our Pals, upcoming events, and announcements!<br/><br/>https://www.facebook.com/share/ahFTecYpLt3bLPkf/?mibextid=qi2Omg

Rescue Pals, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
Thank you for your interest in one of our Pals! Our adoption fees for dogs are: Puppies up to 1 Year Old : $400 Adult Dogs 1 - 9 Years : $350 Senior Dogs 10 - 12 Years : $300 Super Senior Dogs 12 + Years : $150 Kittens up to 1 Year Old : $125 Adult Cats 1 - 12 Years : $95 Senior Cats 12 + Years : $75 If multiple cats/kittens are adopted to the same home at the same time, each kitty after the first (youngest) will have their fee reduced by $25. All dogs and cats are or will be: spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Here is our adoption process: Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. Applicants must be ready for a new pet to come home immediately after the entire adoption process is complete and approved. We are not able to hold animals if you have travel coming up, etc., so please be prepared to make arrangements for your new pet if that is the case. After submitting an application, your information will be reviewed and a vet check will be done for your current and past pets (going back 5 years). Your pets should be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, and on heartworm prevention. Veterinary medical exceptions will be taken into consideration for any of those items. If you and the pet you are applying for seem like a great fit, a member of our adoption team will contact you for a telephone interview. After that, a home check will be done, and then a meet and greet (maybe at the same time!). If all is well and everyone agrees that this is the right new family member for you, the adoption can be finalized at that time! Please note that we are an all-volunteer organization, and in some cases when multiple applications come in for the same pet we may not be able to respond to each applicant. If a pet no longer appears on Petfinder, it means he or she has been adopted. Applying for a pet does not place that animal on hold, or guarantee approval. Our goal is to make the very best match that will last a lifetime for the pet, so we hope everyone can understand and appreciate that. If your application is approved through 1st review and vet check, but we don't feel that the pet you're interested in is the right fit, we may suggest another who we feel would be a better fit for your lifestyle/what you're looking for. Thank you so much again for your interest in adopting a Pal, and helping us save lives!
