Amber's Story
This 32lb shepherd/lab mix has discovered what love and freedom feel like — and she is blossoming more every day. She was born on 2/06/2025.

Amber is a very sweet, active pup who is still learning how to navigate all the excitement of being around people she trusts. When she’s happy (which is often!), she can be a little jumpy and mouthy because she doesn’t quite know how to show all that joy yet. Her foster family is working on this and with structure, activity, and positive interaction, she settles beautifully. She’s smart, eager to learn, and truly wants to get it right.

Amber is also learning what it means to feel safe. She doesn’t trust easily, but she wants to — and she’s making wonderful progress. The resident dog in her foster home has become her guide and confidence booster. If he approves of someone, Amber soon follows his lead. Another well-adjusted, friendly dog in her future home would be a huge help in continuing to build her confidence and show her the world isn’t so scary.

She can be unsure around strangers and will bark at first, but what works best is simply ignoring her and giving attention to the other dog — Amber watches closely, and if he’s comfortable, she quickly relaxes too.

Amber would do best in a home that is not chaotic, but still offers healthy challenges and routine. She thrives with activity, clear expectations, and patient guidance. Older kids are a good fit, and other energetic, positive dogs are welcome companions.

This girl has a big, bright future ahead of her — she’s experiencing the world with fresh eyes and learning where she belongs. With the right family, she will grow into the confident, loving dog she’s meant to be.

If you think Amber might be the one for you, please visit www.puppypawsrescue.org to submit an adoption application.
