Alvin's Story

Alvin has been with us for a little while as he worked through an unexpected medical journey. After 4–5 months of care and recovery from multiple joint issues, this sweet boy is finally ready to find a family of his own!

Alvin is a 10-month-old, 40-pound special-needs pup who is smart, eager to please, and absolutely loves his people. He's high-energy, playful, and so much fun, but he also does wonderfully with a good routine and consistent boundaries.

His joint issues included mild fractures that were successfully managed with rest and medication. While Alvin is doing well now, he will likely develop arthritis as he gets older. Keeping him at a healthy weight, using joint supplements, and avoiding excessive strain are recommended to help keep him comfortable and active for years to come.

Despite everything he's been through, Alvin is still a happy, loving young dog who wants to enjoy life! He did well with cats and other dogs in his foster home and loves spending time with his people.

Alvin is looking for just the right person who will give him the care, consistency, and love he deserves. In return, he'll give you a whole lot of fun, affection, and loyalty.

Because Alvin is a special-needs adoption, we encourage interested adopters to call or stop by to learn more about his medical needs and see if he's the right fit for your home.

Northeast Ohio SPCA's Adoption Policy
We are unable to put our shelter pets on hold. For this reason, we recommend in-state adoptions as we cannot guarantee that the animal will still be available if traveling from another state. All adoption applications need to be completed at our facility. To apply, you must have an occupation and reside in a house, condo, apt, etc. that allows pets. Included in the two-page application is a request for two references. Adoption applications are reviewed the day they are submitted and are typically approved the same day. Adopters are able to take their new pet home immediately after the application has been approved. If the potential adopter already has a dog(s) at home, we recommend a meet & greet for all of our shelter pets.
