Alphie

Alphie is a 4 year old 60lb neutered Alaskan Husky. He was surrendered with a group of other sled dogs to FNSB Animal Control in December 2024 because their previous musher did not feel they had the endurance for the longer races they wanted to do. After not being adopted, Alphie was pulled into SCL rescue in March of 2025 and is now looking for his forever home!<br/><br/>Alphie has spent most of his life as an outside dog, but while with his first foster he loved working to be an inside dog. He took to house-breaking pretty well but still occasionally would try to mark in new places or if new dogs came over. He is super friendly and never met a dog or person he didn’t get along with, except small dogs. He likes to play a lot with other dogs and enjoyed running and playing at the dog park. He is very active and wants to adventure so would do very well in an active home as a sled dog, skijor dog, or jogging buddy. He does not do well with cats or small dogs.<br/><br/>He also tried his paw at skijoring at the end of the winter season and showed a lot of promise for being able to pick that up! He was hesitant on his own at first, but started to get the hang of it and sure loves to run! He went on short runs with a recreational team also and just adores being in harness.
