Allie's Story

This lovely lady is Allie, who hails from Northern Manitoba where sadly, her family can no longer care for her. She is a 2 year old spayed female, 70lb retriever mix with a gentle soul and laid back nature. If tail wags of joy are your love language, then Allie is your perfect companion because her tail never stops wagging! She loves the great outdoors (Northern dog after all!) and she loves her food!

When she came into our rescue she was in a hypoglycemic state. The vet has recommended giving her peanut butter a few times a day to help it resolve and that condition has now been resolved.

Allie

lives with two other dogs and a cat and gets along with them all. One of the dogs she lives with is blind and will occasionally bump into her, which can cause her to become a little nervous, but there have been no incidents and she recovers quickly.

On leash, Allie can be a little nervous, so she’ll benefit from continued support through positive reinforcement training to help her build confidence and feel more comfortable. She may resist if she’s pulled, and who can blame her? That doesn’t feel good! Instead, think of Allie as your mindfulness coach as you both practice moving at a calm pace with a loose leash, setting Allie up for the ultimate success.

Miss Allie is a quiet dog overall and rarely barks. She can be left alone without issue and is both housetrained and crate trained with no signs of separation anxiety or destructive behaviour. All she is missing now, is a family to call her own; a family that appreciates her sensitive yet easygoing nature. She is all ready to clock in to her forever home with the person who is lucky enough to welcome her!
