Alfalfa's Story

A beautiful brown/white brindle coat on just a terrific dog. We are calling him a male Pitbull Terrier mix that has been neutered and are estimating to be around 2 years old and weighs 63 lbs. So, he is past the puppy and teenage stages if that works for you. 😊He is here at the shelter because he was abandoned by his owner. Like the biggest share of our dogs.

Please watch a video of Alfalfa with him off the leash and enjoying his time in our exercise yard. Get a good look at him and get an idea of his energy level. You will see he can have very calm moments, but he also can get his motor revved up when he likes to chase after and play with tennis balls. I would describe his energy level at medium to high. About what would expect from a 2-year-old.

I walked with Alfalfa on a slip lead and there was some pulling but nothing excessive and most people are going to be able to manage him. A harness would be helpful, and we would provide you with both a harness and leash at the time of adoption. I also believe he has had house training. As soon as we were on the grass, he was taking care of his business and again on a short walk. These dogs, including Alfalfa, were in a home and it’s reasonable to expect they have had training. Just please be patient while they adjust to a new home and routine.

Alfalfa already knows the basic commands of sit and stay. He will take treats nicely from your fingers and will come running when you call. He loves to play with tennis balls but is willing to take a break from them if you would like to sit with him and give him some attention that he sorely wants and needs. Alfalfa is friendly and affectionate and is just in need of someone to spend a little time with him.
If you already have a dog(s) in your home, there will be a meet & greet at the shelter.

I am hoping you will see something in his pictures, his video, or this bio that will encourage you to give Alfalfa his chance at a happy and caring forever home. A few moments with him might be all it will take for you to decide that he is the dog you have been looking for to be your lifetime companion.
