Albert's Story

SWEETEST BOY EVER! <br/><br/>Albert is most likely a Cockapoo. He has a lovely, soft, wavy coat with little to no shedding. This does mean he will require regular grooming to prevent matting. He is a super happy and playful dog who gets along with everyone and plays well with other dogs. He is pretty much house trained with frequent trips outside and puppy pads at night. <br/><br/>Poor Albert came to us with an old bilateral fracture of his jaw which had healed crookedly on his right side and not healed properly on his left. He was found as a stray in Eagle Pass, TX and appeared to have had an accident with a vehicle. Recently, he had jaw surgery that placed a titanium plate on the left side to hold the two pieces of his jaw together so it could heal. He also had three teeth removed and his teeth cleaned. Unfortunately, the jaw was unable to be perfectly constructed but he still has a happy and charming smile. There are no problems with him using it and he carries stuffed toys and eats just fine. The picture of Albert in front of the Xmas tree, was when we rescued him last year. It shows how fractured his jaw was prior to his surgery. <br/><br/>Please give Albert a chance for his best life with a forever family. We know that he is very grateful to be saved by our rescue. He shows it every day by being the "sweetest boy ever!!"<br/><br/>Children over 5 is preferred. Fenced yard. Austin, TX adoptions only.<br/><br/>Albert's adoption fee of $400.00 includes his vet visits, basic vaccinations, heartworm/tick tests, preventative, fecal test, wormer, dental cleaning, jaw surgery, neuter, microchip and grooming.<br/><br/>If you live in the Austin, TX area and are interested in adopting, please fill out our rescue's application: http://forgottenfriendstx.org/adoption-application/<br/><br/>Adoption decisions are based on the best overall match and not done on a first-come-first-serve basis. Thank you for your interest!

Forgotten Friends - Mixed Breed Rescue's Adoption Policy
If you are interested in adopting one of our puppies or adult dogs, please fill out the application below as thoroughly as possible so that we may evaluate if you might be the best candidate for the dog you are applying to adopt. Our goal is to make the “perfect” match between what the applicant family needs and wants in their new dog and the individual needs of each and every dog. Applications are evaluated on the best match possible for our dogs and not on a first application basis. It is the commitment of each of our fosters to find the best home possible for each and every one of their fosters. Some homes may be a better fit than another and we trust our Fosters to make that decision for their dog. Many of our dogs are living in a private “mini” shelter environment, so evaluations like house training, good with cats, etc. may not be available. These dogs are all waiting for appropriate foster homes to have an opening so we will be in a position to have more pertinent information that will help with their placement. When your application is received, it will be forwarded to the appropriate foster home. All fosters are volunteers and will be answering your applications as soon as time is available The foster will discuss your needs and their foster’s needs and personality to see if they and you feel their foster may fit into your home. We have found that often an application may not suit the dog that is being applied for, but is just perfect for another. In this case we will refer the applicant to that dog and away from the one for which they placed their application. We will also work with you to find the best dog possible for your needs, limitations and desires! Each foster can decline, redirect or confirm an adoption. Individual fosters have their own guidelines in different areas for placement of their dogs. ****** We normally do not allow adoptions outside of the general Austin area or allow out of state adoptions.****** A call to your vet will be placed to check on sterilization of your present pets, current vaccinations and monthly heart worm preventative for any dogs you may own. A home check will be scheduled to check on proper fencing and living conditions for our dog. If you rent, written rental permission must be supplied. Once a dog is listed as PENDING, it is no longer available for applications. Once the adoption paperwork is approved and the adoption fee is paid, you will receive copies of the medical records and adoption agreement. During the first two weeks of the adoption, if for some reason the dog must be returned, half of the adoption fee is non-refundable. If the dog is returned after the two week period your adoption fee will become a tax deductible donation. The dog adopted from our group will need to be returned to the group for rehoming. Forgotten Friends – Mixed Breed Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Our adoption fees normally range from $350 – $450. The dog’s adoption fee will include, but not be limited to, a Veterinary exam, current vaccinations, worming, heart worm test if applicable, monthly preventative, spay or neuter and microchip. If you are interested in more than one dog, you only need to fill out one application, just list all of the dogs in the “dog you are interested in” field. We appreciate your interest in adopting a dog from Forgotten Friends and look forward to receiving your application. You must be over 21 years of age to adopt and the actual adopter should be the person completing the application.
