Alabaster's Story

When NYC Animal Control found Alabaster as a stray, he was in heartbreaking condition—so matted with feces that he could barely walk. But despite his rough past, this resilient 10-year-old is now on his way to a happy, tail-wagging new chapter!

Alabaster is the definition of a low-maintenance, easygoing companion. His daily routine? Sleep, eat, do his business, and repeat! He doesn’t ask for much—just a soft bed, regular meals, and the presence of his person. He’s completely content as long as he knows you’re nearby, following his foster everywhere she goes like a little shadow. While he doesn’t suffer from anxiety, he does get a bit unsettled if he loses sight of his human.

This sweet senior is fully deaf and has limited vision—he can see clearly up to about six feet, with shadows and movement beyond that only if they’re directly in front of him. He isn’t phased by other animals, including dogs, cats, goats, and even bunnies.

Alabaster does have some ongoing medical needs, which are manageable with the right care. He’ll need a loving adopter who can help him stay comfortable and healthy as he enjoys his golden years.

If you’re looking for a calm, loving, and undemanding companion who will cherish every moment by your side, Alabaster might just be the perfect match. Could you be the one to give him the forever home he deserves?
