Agatha's Story

Hi everyone, my name is Agatha! I am a 7 year old, 18 pound Schnauzer. I was recently surrendered by a commercial breeder where I was bred my entire life so they could make money off the sale of my puppies.

I am now learning about the good life - what it means to be a loved pet in a home, and that people can be caring! I am a little timid when meeting new people but I warm up after getting some nice chin scritches, soft pets on my back, and the opportunity to skidaddle away and come back to you when I am feeling brave again. I get along great with other dogs but I'd prefer to be your one and only. I refuse to let my foster brother get any attention without trying to push my way in for attention too. I would love to be the center of your world and have you all to myself!

I have been doing great at going potty outside but some accidents are to be expected until I learn the routine in my new home. I am a very good eater and love getting treats after going potty. I am crate trained and do really well eating and sleeping in there at night as well as when my foster pawrents are at work. When you come home, I will literally jump for joy when I see you! I have also recently started experiencing the "zoomies" and running carefree and happily in the yard! A fence is not a necessity for me because something else that I've learned to love is going on walks! I am still trying to get the hang of walking on a leash and that other people and dogs out for walks are not scary but just so long as you are with me and remind me that I am safe, I will be ok! After a nice walk, I love nothing more than hanging out near you as I chomp on chew toys and play with stuffies. I can also help you with your housekeeping, if you leave any laundry on the ground I will be sure to bring it into my doggie bed until you are ready to put it in the laundry basket. I would love to spend time curled up next to you on the couch or I am also happy to snooze in my doggie bed so long as it is near you!

On the day of Agatha's rescue, a heart murmur was detected. At a recheck a month and a half later it showed signs of improvement. On the day of her spay surgery, 3 months after rescue, her murmur was faint. It appears her murmur is not a structural issue and was probably caused by the extreme stress and anxiety of her previous living conditions. However, this is something that will need to be communicated to your vet, we will provide medical paperwork with all the necessary information.

Agatha's Schnauzer coat requires regular grooming. She is spayed, microchipped, had a dental cleaning, and is up to date on her vaccines. Agatha is currently being fostered in Bethlehem and potential adopters may need to travel for a meet and greet. If you'd like to be Agatha's furever family, please fill out an application on our website using a laptop or desktop!

Kennel License #9117
PO Box 2372
Reading, PA 19608
